There are no more direct train services between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur or northern destinations. You must change trains at JB Sentral and Gemas.

KTM Intercity in West Malaysia offers overnight trains on all their routes. Here, we will be introducing the sleeper coach, officially known as Superior Class Night, or ADNS as most staff and railway fans prefer to call it. ADNS stands for Air-conditioned Day-Night Sleeper, a method used to classify these coaches.
I began my journey from JB Sentral. For passengers from Singapore, I highly recommend booking and boarding your train from JB Sentral as it saves you more than half the price. Let me give you an example: a ticket on the ADNS from JB Sentral to KL Sentral costs RM45 whereas a ticket from Woodlands to KL Sentral costs SGD45. Booking can also be done online through the e-ticket system.
The train arrived from Woodlands CIQ punctually at 2335hrs. I found my coach, M7, which was the second last coach of today’s consist. My lower berth consisted of a mattress layered on top of the original berth, a pillow, a pulled blanket sheet and curtains on both window and aisle sides for privacy.
What was supposed to be a normal commuting journey turned out to be a reunion between friends. Inthiran was a gatekeeper at Kranji Gate when the Singapore sector of the KTM line was still in operation. He too was heading to KL with his family. We chatted for a good hour or so about what we have been doing for the past 3 years and discussing the whereabouts of the current location of the staff who used to work in Singapore, only heading to sleep past Kulai at about 1.15am.
The train arrived at Kajang at about 6.40am where I dropped off about 20 minutes behind schedule to meet up with another two friends before I continue my journey to KL with KTM Komuter.
Overall, a pleasant journey with KTM. I always preferred the night train to a night bus as there is proper bedding, arrive at a good timing at the terminal and no worries about finding the washroom at any point of the journey.
From 1 July 2015, the Senandung Sutera is extended to Ipoh.
