A little late, but just a quick update – the East Coast Line (Gemas to Tumpat), or Jungle Railway as most tourists call it, is closed indefinitely since 29 December 2014 due to the destruction caused by the floods. All trains that ply that sector are cancelled, even for the sectors not affected by the closure.

Hi Luke, no idea for now, I will update this once official news has been released. You may wish to get a bus from Kuala Lumpur instead. Head to Pekeliling Bus Station just outside Titiwangsa LRT/Monorail station.
