Kota Kinabalu International Airport has 2 terminals: Terminal 1, affectionally known as MAS Terminal,
and Terminal 2, the original airport terminal, unofficially known as LCCT or more commonly as AirAsia Terminal. Terminal 2 is a walk away from Tanjung Aru town and closer to Kota Kinabalu city, whereas Terminal 1 is further away on the highway towards Beaufort, but with more modern facilities such as aerobridges.
UPDATE: Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) Terminal 2 has closed since 1 December 2015. All flights operate only from Terminal 1.
Getting to the city has been a bane for many travellers, with almost no option but to take the taxi costing RM30. Some even walk to Kota Kinabalu town. Thankfully, a new airport bus is in place. There is almost no website telling of this bus except for differing traveller reports on TripAdvisor and the likes, but now, this can serve as a tried and tested trip.

Refer to timetable below dated April 2015.
From KK City: 7.30am – 7.00pm

via Terminal 2. A flat fare of RM5 applies no matter where you alight.
Timetable attached here was last updated in April 2015. Ignore departure times from Terminal 2.

The bus, exactly like the one depicted in their flyers and counter, will stop at the door outside the bus counter.
