The RapidPenang Intercity service is a long-haul city bus service connecting the neighbouring towns with Penang.

The RapidPenang Intercity bus waits for passengers at the existing RapidPenang side of the Penang Sentral terminal at Butterworth. This terminal is also linked to the Butterworth railway station.

The interior of the RapidPenang Intercity bus features coach-like seats which recline comfortably.

The RapidPenang Intercity services uses the PLUS Highway to get from town to town, saving time. They run at a maximum speed of 110km/h. The journey time from Penang
Sentral to Sungai Petani is around 1 hour (The KTM Komuter Northern Sector on the same route will take 34 minutes).

The bus to Sungai Petani stops directly opposite the KTM station.

You may board the return bus from the Sungai Petani bus terminal, 5 minutes away by foot. At the main exit, turn right and walk along the road to the UTC, visible from the station.

The bus frequency is around 30-45 minutes and costs RM4 per person (The KTM Komuter Northern Sector on the same route will cost RM3.60).
