RapidKL Sri Petaling Line Extension (Sri Petaling – Bandar Puteri): The Journey

The RapidKL Sri Petaling Line Extension was extended to Bandar Puteri in Puchong on 31 March 2016. This is part of the extension to Putra Heights which will open in June 2016. This extension includes 4 new stations namely IOI Puchong Jaya, Pusat Bandar Puchong, Taman Perindustrian Puchong and Bandar Puteri which provides an LRT link to Kuala Lumpur. This is also part of the line which opened to Kinrara BK5 on 31 October 2015.

As the resignalling across the whole line is not completed yet, passengers travelling on the new extension will still have to change trains at Sri Petaling as the new extension runs independently for the time being.

IOI Puchong Jaya station, as the name suggests is located adjacent to IOI Mall Puchong, which includes the AEON Bandar Puchong Store. Driving passengers can also use the park and ride facility which links directly from the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP).

Next, the train passes by Tesco Puchong before arriving at Pusat Bandar Puchong. This is also located adjacent to the station.

Trains will head to a cripple siding after the station for the return trip to Sri Petaling.

The overrun area is also used to store additional spare trains for service along the extension.

Passengers travelling from Puchong to KL will need to transfer at Sri Petaling for the time being.

The new extension runs on CBTC for full automation of the system and also assists in accurate stopping at platforms every time.

The full extension to Putra Heights is expected to open in June 2016.
