MRT Purple Line Missing Link: Bang Sue – Tao Poon Free Shuttle Bus

With the opening of the MRT Purple Line between Tao Poon and Khlong Bang Phai, there is a missing link to the rest of the Bangkok Metro network as the section of the MRT Blue Line between Tao Poon and Bang Sue has not been completed.

As a replacement, there are free shuttle buses plying between the two stations until the missing link is completed. These are high-frequency shuttle buses with less than 10 minutes waiting time guaranteed, sometimes even back-to-back buses during peak hours.

From Bang Sue, the waiting area is at Bang Sue Railway Station Platform 1 itself, just outside Exit 2 of Bang Sue MRT Station.

I waited less than 10 seconds after taking the previous shot for the shuttle bus.

The journey from Bang Sue to Tao Poon takes 5 to 10 minutes.

On arrival at Tao Poon, you can see why this free shuttle bus service is reliable. There’s actually a queue of buses waiting to depart, whether there are passengers boarding or not.

The MRT Purple Line is located just upstairs.

To return back to Bang Sue, just board the awaiting bus under Tao Poon MRT Station.

There is also a free shuttle train service between Bang Sue and Bang Son during weekday peak hours only, from 6.30am to 9.30am and again from 4.30pm to 8.30pm, operating at 15 minute intervals. The boarding location is the same as the waiting area for the shuttle bus at Bang Sue Railway Station Platform 1.
