Hotel Review: Kama Hotel • Cheap and Good Budget Hotel near Medan Railway Station

Kama Hotel is one of the cheaper hotels located near Medan Railway Station. As my arrival was already at night and I would be moving out of Medan the following day, I opted to stay here for the short time I had.

Despite priced lower than neighbouring hotels, the building itself is rather big.

*Note: These daytime pictures were taken on the day of my check out since it was rather dark to see anything properly if I had taken it on my check in day.

As some construction was ongoing, the front desk on the ground floor was not in use, but have been shifted up to Level 2.

I was given a room on Level 6. However, as the lift only served up till Level 5, I had to take an additional set of stairs up.

Heading up the stairs to Level 6.

I booked a Studio Single Room through agoda for this stay.

The room was rather spacious for 1 person.

The room has a wall-mounted TV with local channels.

The side table and open wardrobe is also integrated.

The side table has power sockets, mineral water and a room service menu on it.

Two Indonesian two-pin power sockets and 1 universal power socket is also available, so I had no worries to charge my devices.

A towel and toiletries for 1 person is also found under the open wardrobe.

The toilet is rather spacious as well, with the toilet bowl and shower quite separated on each end of the toilet.

The full-height shower just behind the toilet door.

For breakfast, a buffet is provided at a temporary location as well, behind the original ground floor lobby.

Plates, cups and cutlery can be collected from the shelf upon entering the dining area.

Aside from the usual white rice and fried rice, there are a variety of sides as well.

Porridge and a hot dessert was provided too.

Puddings are available in the chiller, but the sandwiches seem to have run out.

Eggs aren’t available freely in the buffet, but can be cooked upon order for Rp.10,000 per egg.

Overall, it was a rather value for money stay in Kama Hotel. I paid just Rp.270,000 (~S$25.95) for this night’s stay which includes breakfast, so it’s actually one of the best deals around Medan city.
