After a quick night’s rest in Penang, it’s time to move on to explore Penang Sentral and to catch my flight back to Johor Bahru from Alor Setar later in the afternoon. (Or so I thought, anyway.) From Georgetown, I headed to Jetty to catch the Rapid Ferry across to the mainland, with the Sultan Abdul Halim Ferry Terminal now beside the new Penang Sentral.
As the ferry was about to depart as I got to the terminal, I was ushered in quickly, as the staff closed the gate behind me once I had passed through. That was a lucky shot.
Boarding the Pulau Pinang ferry, while departing from the actual Pulau Pinang.
Unfortunately, Pulau Pinang is a car-only ferry with no seats installed in the upper deck. As the side fold-out benches are all taken, I stood for the entire journey, but that’s fine since that’s what I usually do anyway.

The front gate area is always a popular place to perch on.
