Hotel Review: At Border Hotel Aranyaprathet (@Border Hotel) • Cheap Budget Hotel Right In Front Of Ban Klong Luk (Aranyaprathet) Border, Klongluk Boundary Post, Thailand

Poipet Ban Khlong Luk Walk 034

As I wanted to catch the Ordinary 280 from Ban Klong Luk Border to Bangkok the next day, overnighting in Ban Klong Luk, Aranyaprathet was the ideal choice as if I had overnighted in Poipet instead, I wouldn’t have made it for the early morning train departure since the border only opens at 7.00am. I opted for At Border Hotel Aranyaprathet (@Border Hotel) as the online reviews said that it was literally at the border, and true enough, it was the first thing I saw upon exiting from Klongluk Boundary Post after the walk across the border from Poipet.

The reception desk at @Border Hotel. Check-in was rather fuss-free as my Agoda booking was already prepared on the counter even before I arrived. It was as simple as handing over my passport for the staff to make a photocopy, and thereafter giving me the room key and WiFi password.

An open clothes rack is available to hang your clothes, which is useful after the long walk from Poipet Railway Station. An in-room safe is also available. The bath towel is provided on the bed.

Ban Klong Luk Border Railway Station is just behind the hotel, making it very convenient to catch the train.

Behind the railway crossing, there is also a big 7-Eleven which is very useful since there aren’t much food options at night, and Thailand’s 7-Eleven does good food anyway, especially toasted danish sandwiches.

Overall, a rather pleasant stay at @Border Hotel for transit, especially after going past the dodgy border at Poipet. This might possibly be the most convenient hotel to get between the border and the train, since seamless daytime connections from Phnom Penh to Bangkok are not yet possible.
