AirAsia AK272 is the early morning flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. Despite being 6.35am early, I was even earlier to klia2 thanks to the cheap night flight from JB getting me to klia2 way ahead of schedule, more than 6 hours early. Combined with this zero fare flight, this was a super cheap, convenient and time-efficient way to get from Singapore/JB to Brunei.
Despite being 6 hours early, my gate was already displayed as Gate P15. Hmm, let’s see if there will be changes later.
Merdeka decorations at klia2 as my trip was just a week before Hari Merdeka.
Taking a short walk around the terminal to see Pier J where my aircraft had just parked.
9M-AGT which got me from JB a few minutes ago, leading the pack of AirAsias parked at Pier J.
I headed to the nearest check-in kiosk around the check-in hall.
Printing my boarding pass from the self check-in kiosk.
My boarding pass for my onward AirAsia AK272 flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bandar Seri Begawan
I decided to clear immigration super early to take advantage of the non-existent queues and to overnight inside the transit area which was a lot more comfortable and probably safer too.
Heading to the Satellite Terminal across the Skybridge.
Continuing on the 3 long travellators across the Skybridge.
Heading down to the hall towards the piers.
Here, I headed to my overnight spots in klia2 international departures area to get a free shower and then some rest. Not posting where here lest my spots get stormed by everyone and I won’t have an opportunity to comfortably rest overnight in klia2 any more.
About an hour to my flight departure, I checked my gate again and surprisingly, there was no change to my gate. Heading to the P Gates after.
Heading down to security clearance before the pier.
Why not just write P1-P21 on the sign.
Continuing down the narrow hallway to my far gate.
Heading down the travellator without a barricade? Awesome.
Oh wait. It’s not moving.
The entrance to Gate P15.
The view of my aircraft from Gate P15.
I headed to Gate P13 to get a better shot of my aircraft to Brunei.
9M-RAC would be flying me from Kuala Lumpur to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
I headed back to Gate P15 where the AirAsia ground staff asked everyone to exit the gate hold room to queue up to enter again as he needed to scan everyone’s boarding passes before allowing them in.
Heading back into the open gate.
I decided to be one of the last to board as I had a front-ish aisle seat.
Okay, listening to your last call.
Ah crap, headed down the aerobridge too early with the queue extending out.
ROKKI Wi-Fi is available on my flight which is awesome for the 2 hour hop.
Heading down a short distance of the cabin to my seat.
The legroom available on AirAsia’s Airbus A320-200.
The view of the aircraft from my seat.
Once the seat belt signs were switched off, I happily connected to the ROKKI Wi-Fi for some window shopping and free on-demand entertainment.
Shortly after, my breakfast was served. I pre-booked my classic Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak for RM10 for the best Malaysian breakfast on board AirAsia.
I think Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak is one of the most successful in-flight meals ever with a very consistent taste across almost all my flights per airline, and it tasted especially fresh on this morning flight. Perhaps it was freshly prepared a few hours ago, or perhaps I was just hungry.
Heading for a toilet break halfway through the flight.
Lots of tissues are stocked up in the toilet.
The flight landed in Brunei at 8.45am – 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
Disembarking from the aircraft.
Heading up the aerobridge.
Hello Brunei.
Heading down the arrival path.
Passengers heading for KL are already preparing for boarding.
Looking back at 9M-RAC.
Royal Brunei Airbus A320-200s parked around the terminal.
Continuing down the arrival path.
A Royal Brunei Airbus A320neo with Royal Brunei ground vehicles.
A Royal Brunei Airbus A320-200 with the stripe livery.
Heading down the escalator to arrival immigration.
Heading down the path to the immigration counters after filling up my immigration card.
Seems like Brunei International Airport reflected the scheduled arrival time rather than the actual arrival time at the baggage carousel.
As I had no check-in bags with AirAsia as usual, I headed out of the baggage carousel area through customs to enter Brunei.
And hello again, Brunei!
Heading around the terminal to see what’s new around as I won’t be flying out of Brunei this time, so this is the last chance I’ll see the airport on this trip.
The arrival hall, with the departure hall above in this compact airport.
From here, I headed out to the driveway to catch the public bus to the city.
Overall, another pleasant flight with AirAsia, getting me to a rare destination by flight and at a very rare low fare too. Now, off to explore Bandar Seri Begawan.
Agree with you thoughts on Pak Nasser Nasi Lemak. The best and most consistent inflight meal.
