KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2053dn: Sentral Kuala Lumpur to Pulau Sebang (Tampin) by Train

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 001

KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2053dn is the 6.00pm departure from KL Sentral to Pulau Sebang (Tampin), originating as such due to the timetable changes for the Klang Valley Double Track Project (KVDT) track maintenance and renewal works. This KTM Komuter train would allow me to connect with the Ekspres Selatan 45dn from Pulau Sebang (Tampin) later on.

This is part of my journey from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore by train, taking 18 hours and 50 minutes. Follow this train journey from the links below:

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 002

Heading to the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector entrance at KL Sentral. A strange feeling to be using this concourse to go back to Singapore.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 003

Heading to the fare gates to touch in to the system.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 004

Tapping my Touch ‘n Go card on the fare gate.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 005

Heading down to the platform. Due to the Klang Valley Double Track Project (KVDT) track maintenance and renewal works, only Platforms 3 and 4 are in operation, so there’s only 1 escalator to go down from.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 006

Heading down to Platform 4.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 007

Trains to Seremban, Sungai Gadut and Pulau Sebang (Tampin) depart from Platform 4.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 008

The southern end of the platform with a barricaded area for crew.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 009

New ballast have been laid on Platform 5.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 010

Heading to a (hopefully) less crowded area at the northern end of the platform.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 012

The same train will turn back towards Pulau Sebang (Tampin) as KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2053dn.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 013

However, the destination sign on the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2053dn shows up as only “Seremban & Sungai Gadut”. Hmm.

The interior of the 92 Class SCS12.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 015

The view of the train from my aisle seat as I wasn’t fast enough to board first.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 017

The generous legroom on board the 92 Class SCS12.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 018

At Mid Valley, people in the good seats disembarked from the train, so I hopped over to a window seat with a power socket and a good view.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 019

Passing by Bandar Malaysia with the Sungai Buloh–Serdang–Putrajaya Line viaducts coming up.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 020

Passing over the jammed Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 021

Making a brief stop at Bandar Tasik Selatan.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 022

New Sungai Buloh–Serdang–Putrajaya Line viaducts beside the existing Sri Petaling Line viaducts before Sungai Besi LRT Station.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 023

Passing by Kajang Park N’ Ride.

Rembau and Pulau Sebang (Tampin) are lighted up on the final leg of the journey. I wonder why KTM didn’t drill in extra holes on the acrylic panel when pasting the new sticker over it.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 031

The journey on the final leg to Pulau Sebang (Tampin) was relatively empty.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 032

Disembarking from the almost empty train at Pulau Sebang (Tampin).

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 033

The journey from KL Sentral to Pulau Sebang (Tampin) took 2 hours and 1 minute.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 035

My next train, Ekspres Selatan 45dn, had already arrived at Pulau Sebang (Tampin) as the Ekspres Selatan 42up.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 036

Heading up the staircase to the concourse.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 038

Heading towards the exit.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 039

Welcome to Melaka.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 040

Heading out via the ticket gates.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 041

The fare gates here are not converted for Touch ‘n Go usage yet, so I used the old-style Touch ‘n Go lane without barriers on the side.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 042

The Touch ‘n Go cashless fare from KL Sentral to Pulau Sebang (Tampin) costs RM12.20 (~S$3.99).

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 043

The waiting area of Pulau Sebang (Tampin). Seems like not many passengers are continuing on the Ekspres Selatan 45dn.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 044

As I had about an hour before my Ekspres Selatan 45dn departs, I decided to take a stroll around the station to find some dinner.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 045

Heading to the food court by the station car park.

2053dn KL Sentral Tampin 046

There was only one stall open in the food court at 8.00pm, which was selling Thosai or Maggi Goreng. I decided to have my dinner here while waiting for the Ekspres Selatan 45dn.

Overall, a good on-time ride with the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2053dn with a forward facing seat with a working power socket and unbroken window. Now, off to transfer to my next train.
