Shuttle Tebrau 79dn: Johor Bahru Sentral to Woodlands CIQ by Train

79dn JB Sentral Woodlands CIQ 001

After a long and arduous journey from KL by train, it’s time to take the fourth and final train back to Singapore, the Shuttle Tebrau. I opted to get a slightly later connection of the Shuttle Tebrau 79dn in case of any delays to my Ekspres Selatan 41dn, or to get lunch first before heading back if my train was on time.

This is part of my journey from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore by train, taking 18 hours and 50 minutes. Follow this train journey from the links below:

The queue for the Shuttle Tebrau 79dn already formed before the gate opened 30 minutes before departure.

I waited for the queue to clear first before heading to board. As this was the day before the new KTM Shuttle Tebrau ticketing system was in use, tickets were checked manually by the station staff.

My final journey time from departing from KL Sentral till arriving at Woodlands Train Checkpoint with 4 trains and a night’s stay at Gemas to change trains took a whopping 18 hours and 50 minutes.

Back in Woodlands Train Checkpoint ticket counter, the queue was long even without passengers on a departing train reprinting tickets as new tickets could not be purchased online at that time unless you used Malaysian internet banking.

Overall, an efficient ride across the Johor–Singapore Causeway on a Sunday afternoon, bypassing all the traffic jams. Although, I did feel a bit sad on the ride as this was to be my last ride on the old ticketing system and I could not get another ticket online any more (at that time) to bypass the jams again unless I opened up a Malaysian internet banking account.
