As many might already know (but I didn’t till I got there), Venice is a pricey tourist destination. Thankfully, there is an alternative to left luggage services at the Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station than the one in the station building. It’s a souvenir shop just outside the station, called Keep Calm Point.

Venice Santa Lucia, being a terminus station, has a wide entrance in front. Walk out of this main entrance, or take the ramp on the left when facing outwards.
Turn left upon exiting.
You will come across this souvenir shop after a few steps, on your left. This is Keep Calm Point.

Charges are €5 for a normal size luggage and €8 for a big size luggage per day, BUT if you show this post, the owner, Nicola, will give you a small discount off this already cheap rate.

Nicola will tag your bag and bring it upstairs in his shop, so you can be assured it’s safe and not just lying on the floor somewhere in the store.
Do take note of his operating hours though. Keep Calm Point opens from 9am to 7pm only. You have to collect your bags before 7pm (he prefers that you collect it by 6.30pm), if not you can only collect them the next day at 9am onwards.
For comparison, the left baggage in the station itself at Platform 1 opens from 6am to 11pm, but it will cost you €6 for the first 5 hours and €0.90 per hour from the 6th to 12th hours and €0.40 per hour from the 13th hour onwards. Assuming you kept it there from 9am to 7pm, that will set you back €10.50, as compared to €4.50 with Nicola. You save €6 with Nicola. However, if his opening timings don’t suit you, you may have to depend on the station’s left luggage office, or just haul your bag around wherever you go (which really isn’t a good idea in a place with over 400 bridges to cross).
