Genting Dream Cruise Bistro by Reinhard Mammes Palace Set Menu Review

Genting Dream Bistro by Reinhard Mammes

Bistro by Reinhard Mammes is one of Genting Dream’s specialty restaurants offering a Western fine-dining menu with premium cuts. On this cruise, I had the privilege to try out the Palace set menu at Bistro by Reinhard Mammes courtesy of Resorts World Cruises.

Klook.com

Bistro by Reinhard Mammes is located on Deck 8 on board Genting Dream. For those who have sailed with her sister ship World Dream before, Bistro is located at the same space as Prime Steakhouse by Mark Best.

There are 2 indoor seating areas at Bistro by Reinhard Mammes, with the front section more open and the one on the right from the entrance quieter with booth seats.

If you are seated at the first section, you will be able to see the galley through the glass window.

Bistro by Reinhard Mammes Palace Set Menu

The Palace set menu at Bistro by Reinhard Mammes consisted of a Salmon Nicoise Salad, Jerusalem Artichoke Cream Soup, a choice of either a Mixed Grill or Herb Crusted Cod Fish, and finished off with a Warm Chocolate Almond Pudding.

A Seafood Tower add-on is also offered for S$48 + 18% service charge, which I did not get since the 4 courses looked more than enough already.

Warm bread was served after ordering. The ordering process was quite straightforward as we only needed to choose which main course we wanted.

Salmon Nicoise Salad

Dinner started with a Salmon Nicoise Salad garnished with black pepper by the waiter. The Nicoise Salad was a refreshing start to dinner back on board Genting Dream after a day out to Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves, and Klang on the shore excursion.

Jerusalem Artichoke Cream Soup

The Nicoise Salad was followed by the Jerusalem Artichoke Cream Soup with truffle oil and herb crouton which provided a nice transition from the raw salads to my cooked meats coming up.

Herb Crusted Cod Fish

The Herb Crusted Cod Fish was served with leek fondue and tomato turmeric ginger concasse. This was a picture of my seat neighbour’s meal so I leave it to you for the taste test when you go on board Genting Dream yourself.

Mixed Grill of Sirloin Beef, Lamb Chop, Pork Sausage, Chicken Thigh, and Chimichurri

My dinner was the Mixed Grill of Sirloin Beef, Lamb Chop, Pork Sausage, and Chicken Thigh, served with Chimichurri sauce. It sounded huge on the menu but thankfully the portions were manageable.

What surprised me was the quality of meats served here at Bistro with the sirloin nicely fatty without any of the toughness at the sides, and the bone of the lamb chop could be easily removed with a light slice of the knife. I had my beef and lamb without any Chimichurri sauce so as to appreciate the tender meats, but the Chimichurri sauce went very well with the sausage and chicken.

Warm Chocolate Almond Pudding

Dinner ended with a Warm Chocolate Almond Pudding which was similar to a cake but swimming in chocolate sauce. A nice sweet end to dinner.

Conclusion

Bistro by Reinhard Mammes on Genting Dream offers a nicely portioned fine-dining set dinner menu with premium cuts of meats. As a specialty restaurant, additional charges apply if you are on Balcony and below, but if you are on The Palace, you get to eat here for free as specialty restaurants are inclusive in your Palace stay.
