Kota Kinabalu Airport Bus (UPDATED: 2018)

Getting to the city from Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) has been a bane for many travellers, with almost no option but to take the taxi costing RM30. Some even walk to Kota Kinabalu town. Thankfully, a new airport bus is in place. There is almost no website telling of this bus except for differing traveller reports on TripAdvisor and the likes, but now, this can serve as a tried and tested trip.

The bus departs approximately by the hour from its terminals – Kota Kinabalu city and Terminal 1. The bus will travel between KK city and Terminal 1. A flat fare of RM5 applies no matter where you alight.

UPDATE: Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) Terminal 2 has closed since 1 December 2015. All flights operate only from Terminal 1. The timetable attached here was last updated in April 2015. Ignore departure times from Terminal 2.

The red bus stops indicate where you can board and alight at in the city.

The bus, exactly like the one depicted in their flyers and counter, will stop at the door outside the bus counter.

Get your tickets ready before the bus’s departure. The journey takes approximately half an hour.
