National Recovery Council (NRC) chairman and former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced on 8 February 2022 that Malaysia’s borders are set to fully reopen on 1 March 2022, as reported by The Star and New Straits Times.
The NRC agrees that Malaysia’s borders are to fully open as early as March 1 without the need for mandatory quarantine to support the nation’s recovery and other industries related to tourism.

Those entering Malaysia would have to undergo Covid-19 tests before and right after arriving in Malaysia as recommended by the Health Ministry.
“The opening of the nation’s borders needs to be done accordingly and based on current risk assessment,” he added.
Malaysia’s borders had been partially closed since 18 March 2020 at the start of Movement Control Order (MCO/PKP) following the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak to check the spread of the virus.
