Nice Imperial from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur by Bus

Nice no longer plies any Singapore routes.

The Nice Imperial bus no longer operates.

With the recent rationalization of services resulting in the need to take 3 trains from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, a bus ride may be a cheaper and faster alternative.

The most convenient replacement now is the Nice Executive coach, which serves the old Kuala Lumpur railway station and KL Sentral before heading non-stop to Singapore. There are 3 types of buses, Nice Executive, Nice++ and Nice Imperial, of which, Nice Imperial offers the highest level of comfort.

I purchased my ticket online through Easybook, which allowed me to select my seat. This coach type when choosing the bus on Easybook is Nice Imperial27.

There are 27 seats in the double decker bus, of which 9 are on the lower deck, 1 private seat beside the driver and 8 in the main cabin in a 2+1 configuration…

… and 18 seats on the upper deck in a 1+1 configuration.

The seats on the left side of the bus are positioned at a 45 degree angle for slightly more personal space and a better view out of the window.

The bus goes across Benjamin Sheares Bridge as it departs from The Plaza @ Beach Road…

… and also Gardens by the Bay on the left.

The usual Nice Imperial advertisement is played when the BlueICE Tablet Infotainment System is launched. Thanks for attracting me to the Nice Imperial service guys, but I’m already on board.

A meal is served in Malaysia, after the bus departs the Gelang Patah R&R. The breakfast meal consists of Mee Goreng with fried chicken. The meal is served hot, presumably with the availability of a microwave on board the bus. Hot drinks are also available on the Nice Imperial, as compared to simply mineral water on board the Nice Executive.

Nice Executive and Nice Imperial buses no longer provide meals on board.

The bus makes a stop for refuelling and a toiler break.

Each massage seat can be reclined with a push of the button at the side. The legrests can be flipped up with a pull of the lever at the side of the seat. These are shell seats, so you don’t have to worry about reclining into the other passenger seated behind you.

If watching the personal TV is not your thing, you might want to choose seat 1B right in front of the bus for slightly more legroom and a great view of the bus coasting down the expressway.

If you want a little more privacy, choose seat 1A where you are positioned at an angle away all the other passengers from the bus. It comes with an actual side table and a view from the front too, so it’s like a mini suite on board.

Note that the aircon may not feel as strong at the front as compared to the rest of the bus during the day.

I opted to alight at KL Sentral for this trip.

The bus stop right outside the entrance to the KL City Air Terminal where the KLIA Ekspres departs from.

The Nice counter operates from an unused check-in desk at the KL City Air Terminal. You can get your tickets here for any other KTB buses too, or you can just use Easybook online.

The bus takes around 6 hours from The Plaza @ Beach Road to KL Sentral. Add another 10 minutes from KL Sentral to get to the old Kuala Lumpur railway station.
