“Oxygen Shuttle” Programme from Singapore to Indonesia

Singapore is sending weekly shipments of emergency oxygen supplies to Indonesia to aid the fight against the current surge of COVID-19. Known as the “Oxygen Shuttle” programme, these shipments are at Indonesia’s request and will supplement the urgent need for oxygen in medical facilities. More than 500 tonnes of oxygen will be shipped from Singapore to Indonesia from July to August.

The Republic of Singapore Navy’s RSS Endeavour conveyed liquid oxygen, ISO tanks, oxygen cylinders, and oxygen concentrators from Singapore Changi Naval Base to Tanjung Priok Port on 14 July 2021. This follows the initial tranche of assistance delivered to Indonesia by the Republic of Singapore Air Force on 9 July 2021.

80 tonnes of oxygen in 4 ISO Tank Containers from Singapore departed by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia cargo train from Tanjung Priok Railway Station on 5 August 2021, bound for Kalimas Railway Station in Surabaya.

Other ISO tanks with liquid O2 from Singapore were also received in Banjarmasin and Solo.

The “Oxygen Shuttle” programme is in addition to assistance from the Singapore Government to Indonesia in the form of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, as well as other medical supplies and equipment, sent in earlier batches on 9 and 11 July 2021. The “Oxygen Shuttle” programme is coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore, with support from the Ministry of Defence Singapore, and the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre.
