Sentosa Express Monorail Beach Station New Alighting Platform Now Open

Sentosa Express Monorail Beach Station New Alighting Platform Now Open

Sentosa Express’ Beach Station has a new alighting platform, allowing the monorail trains to utilise the Spanish Solution when disembarking and boarding passengers at Beach Station, providing more opportunities for passengers to board the train at the terminal station now that alighting passengers would be clearing out from the new platform. This is a much-needed modification project with the growing passenger demand especially for outbound Sentosa Express monorail trains.

Beach Station New Alighting Platform

I found out about Beach Station’s new alighting platform being in use accidentally when I wanted to alight from the usual platform. Alas, the doors on the left opened instead, and I was caught unaware.

The new arrival platform is slimmer than the existing platform and basic with no queue lines, seats, or other amenities aside from the platform itself, relevant safety equipment, and a new escalator and lift.

After all, passengers will simply disembark at the new platform and head straight down to ground level.

Boarding is done at the original platform as per normal, with the exception of departing passengers needing to wait for arriving passengers to clear the front of the queue before boarding – that’s a thing of the past now.

The new escalator from the new arrival platform leads down to a new concourse at Beach Station, expanding the sheltered footprint and providing a wider linkway to the bus and tram stops.

This new concourse is just beside the existing Beach Station and escalator up to the original platform, now the departing platform.

A new taxi stand and pick-up drop-off point is also found at the new Beach Station concourse.

Beach Station Boarding Platform

Boarding for Sentosa Express trains at Beach Station is still done at the original station, but with no more crowd and queue clashes between arriving and departing passengers. The original station now only serves departing passengers.

When the train arrives, the platform staff open up the queue lines for passengers to stand in front of the half-height platform screen doors.

No more waiting for passengers to clear the platform in front of the queue before boarding, causing passengers to miss the train as doors are closing. Arriving passengers will alight at the new platform opposite.
