The provision of additional ETS trains reflects the ongoing concern of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), with the support of the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, in ensuring that the travel needs of the people are always prioritised. This measure is taken to accommodate increasing passenger demand, while providing more travel options that are comfortable, safe and in line with users’ needs. This initiative is also in line with the Government’s efforts to ensure that rail-based public transport remains accessible, competitive and the preferred choice of Malaysians.
The public is encouraged to plan their journeys early and purchase tickets in advance to enjoy more affordable fares and avoid congestion and last-minute purchases. Passengers are also reminded to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure time, as the boarding gates will close five (5) minutes before the train departs. For users’ convenience, the latest information regarding ETS services can be obtained via KTMB’s official social media channels from time to time.
Addition of 4 new ETS3 sets for ETS service operations
With effect from 4 February 2026, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will retain the ETS service on the JB Sentral – Butterworth – JB Sentral route, which was previously introduced as an additional service in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebration.
In addition, KTMB will increase the frequency of the JB Sentral – Padang Besar – JB Sentral service in future to 4 trips per day compared with 2 trips per day currently.
The addition of these 4 new 94 Class “ETS3” sets not only increases service frequency, but also provides more options and convenience for passengers. This initiative brings the total number of ETS services to 44 trips per day, compared with 40 trips per day currently, in line with the receipt of four (4) 94 Class “ETS3” train sets.
KTMB remains committed to strengthening operational efficiency and expanding the provision of rail services that are safe, comfortable and reliable for the public. These continuous improvements reflect KTMB’s efforts in supporting national mobility and meeting the growing travel needs of passengers, in line with the aspiration to strengthen rail-based public transport as the people’s preferred choice.
