ETS Platinum

The ETS Platinum offers the fastest service on KTM’s network with minimal stops at only key stations along its route. Trains currently ply from Butterworth to KL Sentral, and between KL Sentral and Padang Besar.

How do I book tickets online?

Links to the KTM E-Ticket System are strikethroughed due to KTM’s own admission of the instability of their system here after Prime Minister Najib Razak personally posted on Facebook that there is such an issue here. Proceed using the KTM E-Ticket System at your own risk.

The ETS Platinum to or from Butterworth is full. How do I still get on the ETS Platinum?

Book your ticket to or from Taiping instead. Use the KTM Komuter Northern Sector to travel between Butterworth and Taiping, interchanging at Bukit Mertajam.

Hi , planning to go to Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur by ETS Train, but after train stop at Padang Besar need to do the transit!!
    1. At Padang Besar, how to do transit to the train to Bangkok?
    2. Where to buy the train tickets/ online?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

    • RailTravel Station says:

You can buy tickets to Bangkok starting from Butterworth (1 train daily) or Hat Yai (5 trains daily). No online purchase is available. Buy your train from Butterworth ticket (36up) at any KTM Intercity ticket counters.

I always like to face the ditection of travel. When we booked the tickets online we were assigned seats facing the opposite direction automatically. It seems we have no control over this situation. Very annoying.

I just cross referenced the seating plan you kindly put up in this page with the Ktmb website. It does not quite match. For example on the Ktmb website, when I selected ETS1-ETS Platinum (ETS 9204) Coach B, there are no seats 14C 14D 15C 15D. Would you kindly be able to advise on this please?
