KTM Electric Multiple Unit (EMU)

KTM Electric Multiple Unit (EMU)

Electric Multiple Units, or EMU for short, are self-propelled sets of coaches using electricity as their motive power. Multiple coaches are permanently or semi‑permanently coupled and work together as one self‑propelled set. An EMU uses electricity as its sole traction power source, with traction motors mounted on one or more cars in the set. KTM’s EMUs draw current from overhead lines via a pantograph. They are part of KTM’s modern fleet of trains operating for commuter, regional and inter-city rail on electrified networks on the west coast from Padang Besar all the way down to JB Sentral.

EMUs in the fleet include:

KTM Berhad Rolling Stock

KTM Diesel Locomotives

KTM Electric Locomotives

KTM Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs)

KTM Passenger Coaches – Seats

KTM Passenger Coaches – Sleepers
