KTMB Introduces MySawasdee Penang Edition Special Train from 29 December 2024 to 5 January 2025
KTM Berhad is delighted to announce the introduction of the MySawasdee Penang Edition special train service operating on the Butterworth – Hat Yai – Butterworth route. This trial service will run from 29 December 2024 to 5 January 2025. The MySawasdee Penang Edition trial aims to assess demand and customer response to this special train service, with a view to planning future train services to other key destinations within the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) network.
MySawasdee Penang Edition ticket sales will begin on 23 December 2024 (Monday) at 10:00 AM. The service offers a one-way fare priced at RM45. The train will make stops at several major stations, including Bukit Mertajam, Sungai Petani, Alor Setar, Arau, and Padang Besar.

The MySawasdee Penang Edition operates on a seasonal basis.
This new MySawasdee Penang Edition route provides residents in northern Peninsular Malaysia and tourists from Thailand with a seamless and comfortable journey, eliminating the need to change trains. Passengers can now travel directly between Hat Yai and Butterworth with greater convenience and efficiency.
The MySawasdee Penang Edition route is also expected to benefit both domestic and international tourism, especially by attracting more tourists from Hat Yai to Penang, renowned for its cultural heritage and unique local cuisine. Additionally, the service has the potential to boost the domestic tourism sector and positively impact the local economy, benefiting various businesses along the train’s route.
