Hotel Review: Red Planet Hat Yai • Comfortable Low-Cost Hotel in Downtown Hat Yai (formerly Tune Hotel Hat Yai)

Red Planet Hat Yai 001

Red Planet Hat Yai is a popular downtown Hat Yai hotel among many tourists, and looks pretty familiar from both outside and inside because it was formerly Tune Hotel Hat Yai. With my heading around the city and convenient access needed to Hat Yai Junction Railway Station, I opted to stay here for this Hat Yai trip.

There is a free shuttle service to CentralFestival Hatyai from Red Planet Hat Yai.

There is a tour desk for tour and taxi services out of Red Planet Hat Yai.

I didn’t enquire anything about tours since I didn’t need it, but the taxi rates seem rather reasonable.

The taxi rates for destinations out of Red Planet Hat Yai from the tour desk.

For reference, the Grab rate to Hat Yai Airport was 261 Baht, so getting a taxi directly here for 250 Baht is 11 Baht cheaper. 250 Baht is also the “colluded” rate between the city and Hat Yai among all operators.

For additional reference, the Grab rate to Padang Besar Customs House, Thailand was 1,140 Baht, so getting a taxi directly here for 800 Baht is 340 Baht cheaper. 1000 Baht is for the taxi to cross the border and take you directly to Padang Besar Railway Station, Malaysia.

The Standard Double Room at Red Planet Hat Yai was rather spacious, considering that this was a Tune Hotel.

Overall, a pleasant stay at Red Planet Hat Yai with the large clean rooms and centralised location in downtown Hat Yai to walk to Hat Yai Junction Railway Station, Tops Supermarket, Robinson Hat Yai, Odean Shopping Mall, Central Department Store (Central Hat Yai) and Lee Gardens with ease.
