Bangkok Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Shower Room

Bangkok’s Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal is the new rail hub for passenger train services in Thailand with modern facilities. At the start or end of a long train journey, some passengers may find the need to freshen up. While I thought this facility was missing when I first visited it on the first day of operations, thankfully, as all good major Thailand railway stations have, there is a shower room in Bangkok’s Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal for the long distance train passengers to use free of charge.

The shower room at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal is located near Door 5 on the western side facing Bang Sue Junction Railway Station.

There is a public toilet at the corner to the right of Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Door 5.

Walk in to the toilet normally and find a cleaner on duty. The cleaner will ask for your same-day long distance train ticket before unlocking the shower cubicles.

There are 4 shower cubicles in the male toilet.

All shower cubicles are locked by default.

However, the cleaner will unlock it once you have shown your same-day long distance train ticket.

The shower room is split into a wet and dry section, though the prevention from water spillage isn’t great. There is a seat in the dry section which is useful for my backpack.

A cold shower is provided in the shower cubicle, which when combined with Bangkok’s heat, actually makes for a reasonably comfortable temperature. You’ll feel really hot outside in the Bangkok weather, wanting a cold shower, but instead of the water being too cold, the pipes were probably heated from the weather too and thus the water is at room temperature.

There is a towel bar in the shower area which may be dangerous to hang your towel and clothes on as the spray from the shower is aimed directly at it.
