Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) Compulsory for All Foreigners from 1 December 2023

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) Compulsory for All Foreigners from 1 December 2023

From 1 December 2023, the Immigration Department of Malaysia will require all foreign nationals travelling to Malaysia to fill up the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) prior to their arrival in Malaysia. The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is similar to an immigration form but much more straightforward and is completed online. This was officially announced on Facebook by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Corporate Communications Unit on 1 December 2023, 4.46pm.

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is FREE OF CHARGE and can be filled up at https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main?registerMain.

If you come across any other website to fill up the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) that does not belong to the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) and asks for payment to generate the MDAC, it is not official and may be a scam.

Singaporeans Exempted from Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) from 1 January 2024 (and some other passport/pass holders)

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) was first launched on 20 January 2023 as a pre-requisite to allow Singapore passport holders to use the electronic gate (e-gate) facilities at the 2 land entry points in Johor Bahru at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (from Woodlands) and Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (from Tuas).

With the compulsory filling up of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), foreigners of 10 nationalities will also thus be in-principle automatically enrolled for electronic gate (e-gate) facilities use at selected checkpoints, if there are no hiccups.

The 10 foreign passport holders eligible to use the Malaysia immigration autogates visiting as tourists at selected checkpoints (Short Term Social Visit Pass) are:

  • 🇦🇺 Australia
  • 🇧🇳 Brunei
  • 🇩🇪 Germany
  • 🇯🇵 Japan
  • 🇰🇷 Republic of Korea
  • 🇳🇿 New Zealand
  • 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia
  • 🇸🇬 Singapore
