Uttrawithi
Uttrawithi is a daily Special Express train plying between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, stopping at major northern cities such as Sila At, Den Chai, Lampang, and Khuntan. The train is formed of modern, air-conditioned sleeper coaches manufactured by CRRC, making it one of the newest and most comfortable trains in SRT’s fleet. The train departs Bangkok in the evening and arrives in Chiang Mai the next morning, with the return service operating overnight as well.
The Uttrawithi offers both First Class and Second Class sleeper accommodations. First Class cabins have two berths per cabin, which can be booked for single or double occupancy. Second Class offers upper and lower berths in an open-plan arrangement. The Uttrawithi includes a restaurant car, a Second Class sleeper coach with handicap facilities, and a special Second Class sleeper coach for women and children for added safety.
The Uttrawithi commenced service on 11 November 2016.
