Ferrovie Laziali FL5 Trenitalia Regionale 4511 from Roma San Pietro to Roma Termini by Train

Ferrovie Laziali FL5 Trenitalia Regionale 4511 from Roma San Pietro to Roma Termini

The Trenitalia FL lines were formerly known as Ferrovie Laziali which consists of 8 commuter rail lines radiating from Rome. Line FL5 offers a direct link from Roma San Pietro to Roma Termini, with an impending departure following my arrival at Roma San Pietro from my Trenitalia Regionale 20024 from Albano Laziale.

Heading back in to Roma San Pietro Railway Station.

Heading down to the underpass under the train tracks to access Platform 4.

The FL5 departs from Platforms 4 and 5, depending on the direction of travel.

Trains to Roma Termini depart from Platform 4 at Roma San Pietro. Thanks to the 5-minute delay, I was able to make the connection.

Trenitalia Regionale 4511

My Trenitalia Regionale 4511 was formed of a new Trenitalia ETR 521 “Rock” double-deck EMU manufactured by Hitachi Rail Italy.

The “Rock” EMU has wide single-leaf sliding doors instead of the usual two-leaf design.

The train was quite full when I boarded, since it had originated from Grosseto about 2 hours before.

Roma Ostiense Railway Station

Making a brief stop at Roma Ostiense Railway Station.

Roma Ostiense Railway Station is a big station offering interchanges to Rome Metro Line B and Roma-Lido Railway. This was also the first point of entry for me in Rome when I first arrived in 2016.

The sight of high-speed trains means Roma Termini is nearing.

Roma Termini Railway Station

My Trenitalia Regionale 4511 sadly arrived at the end platforms at Roma Termini Railway Station, which means it’s time for a long walk.

Looking back at the empty interior of the Trenitalia ETR 521 “Rock” double-deck EMU with passengers gone.

A 2-pin EU power socket and USB power socket are available between each pair of seats.

Seats in the middle of the train car are positioned in facing bays of 4 seats.

Seats nearer to the doors and without windows are placed longitudinally, and also creates a slightly wider aisle space.

The interior of the lower deck is similar, but with luggage racks and a bicycle space near the doors. A flip-up seat is also available by the train door.

From the platforms at the end of Roma Termini Railway Station, it’s about a 500 meter walk to the main concourse.

I decided not to go to the end, and instead took the nearest underpass to the nearest exit at the side of Roma Termini Railway Station.

It’s not a grand welcome to Rome, but it shortens my walk to my hostel.

This exit is also the nearest exit to transfer to Termini Laziali just beside, for the Rome-Giardinetti Railway.
