DB Regio RE1 is a Regional-Express train plying between Cottbus and Magdeburg through Berlin and Potsdam. Regional-Express trains in Berlin offers a faster journey through the city and also extends to towns further out than the S-Bahn suburban network. For this trip to Potsdam, there was a fast RE1 train departing shortly, which will make my journey faster and more comfortable than the S-Bahn S7.

My RE1 arrived at Potsdam Hauptbahnhof at 7.38pm – 2 minutes delayed.

This train will terminate at Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof.

There’s a welcome to Potsdam sign on top of the usual station sign.

The S-Bahn platforms are just beside.

The concourse bridge across the platforms are filled with shops.

Heading out of Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.

The tram and bus stations are located just outside Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.

Interchanging is easy with no fare gates and all berths on the same level. Just ensure that you have a valid ticket before boarding.
