KTMB Extends Shuttle Selatan to Paloh from 8 August 2026 with Promotional Fares
KTM Berhad will extend the Shuttle Selatan service to Paloh from 8 August 2026, significantly improving rail connectivity across central Johor especially with an intermediate stop at Kluang. The extended route will provide residents with a convenient public transport option to JB Sentral, while offering seamless connections for commuters travelling onwards to Singapore.
The latest expansion follows the successful launch of the Shuttle Selatan network in June 2026 and forms part of the Ministry of Transport’s ongoing efforts to improve regional rail connectivity throughout Johor.
The Shuttle Selatan service was officially launched on 16 June 2026 as a Government initiative to improve connectivity and mobility across Johor.
Shuttle Selatan Now Reaches Kluang and Paloh
Introduced on 16 June 2026, Shuttle Selatan initially operated on two routes:
From 8 August 2026, the service will be extended beyond Kulai to serve four additional stations:
Together with the existing stops at Kulai, Kempas Baru and JB Sentral, the extended Shuttle Selatan route will now serve a total of 7 stations, creating a continuous rail corridor linking central Johor with Johor Bahru.
The extension utilises part of the Gemas–Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP), allowing KTMB to expand services less than three months after the initial Shuttle Selatan launch.
Journey Time Between Paloh and JB Sentral
Passengers travelling from Paloh to JB Sentral can expect a journey time of approximately 120 minutes.
The timetable has been designed with daily commuters in mind, particularly those travelling to Johor Bahru for work or continuing onwards to Singapore.
Shuttle Selatan will operate:
- 10 train services daily
- 5 departures from Paloh to JB Sentral
- 5 departures from JB Sentral to Paloh
- Capacity of up to 400 passengers per train
The first train departs Paloh at 3:55 am, arriving at JB Sentral at 5:52 am.
The last train leaves JB Sentral at 8:30 pm, arriving back at Paloh at 10:27 pm.
Easy Connections to Pasir Gudang
Passengers can continue their journey beyond JB Sentral by changing trains at Kempas Baru for Shuttle Selatan services to Pasir Gudang.
This integrated connection improves access between:
- Paloh
- Kluang
- Renggam
- Layang-Layang
- Kulai
- Johor Bahru
- Pasir Gudang
The improved connectivity is expected to benefit commuters travelling to one of Johor’s largest industrial areas, making rail a more attractive alternative for both workers and local residents.
Around 2.5 Million Residents Could Benefit
According to KTMB, the expanded Shuttle Selatan network now serves the districts of:
- Kluang
- Kulai
- Pasir Gudang
- Johor Bahru
Based on the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s 2025 population estimates, approximately 2.5 million people could benefit from the improved rail services.
Since Shuttle Selatan began operations in June 2026, the existing routes have already recorded 3,209 passengers, demonstrating encouraging public demand for the new commuter rail service.
Promotional Fares Continue
To encourage more passengers to use the service, KTMB has extended its promotional fares until the arrival of new electric trains.
One example is the fare between Paloh and JB Sentral:

Kad Komuter Madani and MyRailLife Benefits
Passengers can continue using the Kad Komuter Madani Shuttle Selatan, with all 3,000 cards remaining valid across the entire Shuttle Selatan network until 16 September 2026.
KTMB has also extended the MyRailLife Pass for Shuttle Selatan services from 8 August until 31 December 2026.
Eligible passengers include:
- Children aged 4–6
- Primary and secondary school students (Year 1 to Form 6)
- Persons with Disabilities (OKU)
The initiative aims to reduce travel costs while encouraging greater use of public transport.
Supporting Johor’s Economic Growth
The Shuttle Selatan expansion is expected to strengthen daily commuting across southern Johor while supporting the continued development of the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Residents from Paloh, Kluang, Renggam, Layang-Layang, Kulai and surrounding communities will gain a practical rail option for travelling to Johor Bahru before continuing onwards to Singapore, reducing dependence on private vehicles and easing congestion on major roads.
As more sections of the Gemas–Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project become operational, Shuttle Selatan continues to evolve into an increasingly important regional commuter railway linking Johor’s towns, industrial centres and economic hubs.

Passengers can obtain the latest travel schedules, promotional fares and purchase Shuttle Selatan tickets through the KITS Style mobile application, the official KTMB website, or at ticket kiosks at Shuttle Selatan stations.
Concession fares (50% off) are valid for:
- Malaysian Children between 2 to 6 years old
- Malaysian Students on presentation of KTM i-Card Student
- Malaysian senior citizens of 60 years old and above
- Malaysian Disabled (OKU)
