KTMB Additional ETS Services and 20% Promotional Fares for PRN Johor 2026 Weekend

KTM Berhad has announced additional Electric Train Service (ETS) trains on the JB Sentral – Gemas – JB Sentral and KL Sentral – JB Sentral – KL Sentral routes to accommodate the expected surge in passenger demand during the upcoming Johor State Election weekend. The additional services are aimed at providing more travel options for voters returning to their hometowns to fulfil their civic duty during the Johor State Election while encouraging greater use of rail transport.

Additional ETS Trains Following Strong Demand

The announcement follows overwhelming demand for the first batch of additional ETS services, which went on sale on 19 June 2026 and are now fully sold out.

To meet continued demand, KTMB will operate:

  • 4 additional ETS services on the KL Sentral – JB Sentral – KL Sentral route.
  • 4 additional ETS services on the JB Sentral – Gemas – JB Sentral route.

The additional trains will operate from 10 to 12 July 2026, with each service offering 312 seats.

Ticket Sales

Ticket sales for the additional JB Sentral – Gemas – JB Sentral services opened on Tuesday at 3.00 pm, while tickets for the additional KL Sentral – JB Sentral – KL Sentral services will go on sale on Wednesday at 9.00 am.

Across both routes, KTMB will provide an additional 2,488 seats per day, resulting in a total of 7,464 extra seats over the three-day operating period.

The extra capacity offers greater flexibility for passengers, particularly Johor voters travelling to and from the southern region, allowing for a more comfortable and convenient journey.

20% Promotional Fare on Additional ETS Services

To encourage greater use of rail transport, KTMB is also offering a 20% promotional fare on all additional ETS services operating on the affected routes between 10 and 12 July 2026.

The promotional fares are expected to help passengers save on travel costs while supporting KTMB’s ongoing Road to Rail initiative, which promotes public transport as a preferred mode of travel.

Supporting Road to Rail and Sustainable Mobility

KTMB is encouraging travellers, particularly those residing outside Johor or away from their registered voting districts, to take advantage of the additional ETS services when travelling home to vote.

The railway operator continues to support the Government’s Road to Rail agenda by encouraging more people to choose rail travel as a comfortable, fast and safe alternative to driving. Increased rail usage is also expected to help ease road congestion during the busy election weekend while contributing to the nation’s sustainable mobility goals.

Plan Ahead Before Travelling

Passengers are advised to book their tickets early to enjoy more affordable flexible fares and avoid last-minute purchases.

Travellers should also arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure, as boarding gates will close five minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Tickets can be purchased via the KITS Style mobile application, the official KTMB website, or KTMB ticket kiosks at selected stations.
