The KLIA Ekspres is the airport express train of Kuala Lumpur International Airport serving both KLIA and klia2. As my arrival from AirAsia AK720 was quite late at night, I decided to catch the KLIA Ekspres into the city to save travel time and to get to my hotel as early as possible.
I had purchased my KLIA Ekspres ticket from KLOOK during the Goodbye 2019 Sale which featured 1-for-1 KLIA Express Adult Tickets (one way or round trip), so I saved half the price for the online KLIA Ekspres fare of RM49.50 (ie. RM49.50 for 2 KLIA Ekspres tickets or RM24.75 for a KLIA Ekspres ticket when the cost is divided), which is an excellent deal I must say.
The ERL ticket concourse of KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit at klia2.
The KLOOK KLIA Express tickets were sent as .pdf in the email, so there’s no further exchange needed to be done at the ticket counter.
Heading to the ticket gate.
Scanning the KLOOK KLIA Express ticket QR code from my phone at the ticket gate to enter directly.
Heading down to the platform. Signs point to the KLIA Express and KLIA Transit in separate directions, but in reality both escalators lead to the same island platform, so just go down wherever.
Heading down to the shared island platform.
The ERL platforms at klia2 are not air-conditioned.
The KLIA Express departs from Platform A.
At the southern end of the platform, there is an air-conditioned waiting lounge. However, when I went in, the aircon seems switched on but there was no air whatsoever, and I exited in less than 10 seconds.
The KLIA Ekspres train arrived 3 minutes before departure.
Passengers from KL Sentral and KLIA will be on board. Wait for them to alight before boarding.

I picked the facing bay of 4 seats for more space.

Departing from klia2 on time at 11.55pm.
Making a brief stop at KLIA to pick up more passengers.
Departing from KLIA. The reflections from the window were pretty severe at night, so I gave up on trying to take more photos.
Arriving at KL Sentral. The KLIA Express journey from klia2 to KL Sentral takes 33 minutes.

Heading to the escalator.
Gave up trying to flow into the slow moving escalator and took the stairs up instead, which was faster.
Heading to the ticket gates to exit the system.

As the LRT had already closed this late at night, I headed out of the KLIA Express arrival hall to get a Grab instead.
Interestingly, there is still demand for the taxi coupon, with a budget taxi counter now available at the KLIA Express arrival hall rather than only executive taxis.
Overall, a quick and easy ride on the KLIA Express with KLOOK as there is no need to queue for tickets when rushing for a train, entering directly into the system with just a QR code, potentially saving 30 minutes of waiting time (after midnight) when missing the 11.55pm train is potentially happening when figuring out the kiosk or queuing at the ticket counter with my tight connection. The 1-for-1 KLIA Ekspres Airport Train Tickets flash deal made it even better with the half price on the online discount, making it a cheap airport train transfer at midnight.
