KTM 93/2 Class ETS (ETS2)

The KTM 93/2 Class EMU is an intercity higher-speed train used on Malaysia’s ETS (Electric Train Service) routes, operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM). Designed for intercity travel, the 93/2 Class EMU enhances Malaysia’s rail infrastructure, offering fast, efficient, and comfortable journeys across key cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Butterworth, and even Padang Besar at the Thai border. Instead of the usual single-class 2+2 seating on board ETS trains, the ETS 93/2 Class features two classes of travel – the brand new Business Class and the regular Standard Class. It is manufactured by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd.. A total of 9 sets are in the fleet, all of which were assembled locally in Batu Gajah, Perak, Malaysia.

The KTM 93/2 Class EMU is capable of speeds up to 160 km/h, making it one of the fastest trains in Malaysia, reducing travel time between major cities. Primarily used for ETS services, the 93/2 Class EMU connects Malaysia’s northern and central regions, including key economic hubs. The trains offer plush seating, air conditioning, onboard Wi-Fi, Surau, and a café for food and beverage purchase, ensuring a comfortable experience for long-distance travelers. As an electric-powered train, it offers a greener alternative to road and air travel by reducing carbon emissions.
