KTM Komuter Free Rides and 24-Hour Service for Thaipusam 2025

KTM Berhad will be operating extended KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector train services and free rides to facilitate travel during the Thaipusam celebration in 2025, especially to Batu Caves, to accommodate the expected surge in passengers during this festive period. 24-hour KTM Komuter train services will operate to and from Batu Caves, with free travel available on 10 and 11 February 2025.

24-Hour KTM Komuter Train Service to Batu Caves

From 9 to 12 February 2025, KTMB will operate a round-the-clock KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector train service for 4 days and 3 nights. This extended service aims to cater to the needs of Hindu devotees, tourists, and members of the public wishing to experience the Thaipusam celebrations, particularly at Batu Caves.

The KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector Port Klang-Tanjung Malim-Port Klang route will run on the previous full schedule throughout this period to meet passenger demand throughout the day. This enhanced service, for this period only, is expected to significantly improve accessibility for travellers during the festive season.

Additional overnight train services will operate between Batu Caves and Pelabuhan Klang after regular hours. There is no train service to and from Tanjung Malim after regular hours.

Free Travel for 2 Days

In a move to further support the celebration, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector rides throughout the Klang Valley will be free of charge for 2 days on 10 and 11 February 2025. Passengers can enjoy free travel from midnight to 11:59 pm on both days.

To take advantage of the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector free rides, passengers should use cashless payment methods such as the KTMB Mobile app, Komuter Link, Touch ‘n Go, MyDebit, credit cards, or physical QR tickets obtained from ticket counters. The fare will be waived upon checkout at the automatic control gates.

Additional Train Services

KTMB is significantly increasing its KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector service frequency during this period. There will be 44 additional trips per day including overnight and shuttle train services, bringing the total to 140 daily trips, compared to the usual 96. This is a substantial increase in capacity to handle the expected influx of passengers.

Nearly 500,000 passengers are anticipated to benefit from these enhanced services, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year. Peak travel is expected on 11 February 2025, which is Thaipusam day.

Bicycles Not Allowed

Passengers are not allowed to bring all types of bicycles on KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector trains from 9 February to 12 February 2025 in conjunction with the Thaipusam festive period. This is to allow more passengers to fit in the train with expected high demand.

Ladies Coach Not In Operation

The Ladies Coach policy on KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector trains will not be enforced during the Thaipusam festive period from 9 February to 12 February 2025. All coaches in the train can be used by any gender to allow more passengers to fit in the train with expected high demand.
