Merak Executive Ferry Terminal (Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif)

Merak Executive Ferry Terminal • Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif

Merak Executive Ferry Terminal or Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif is the modern ferry terminal serving Executive Class or express ferries from Merak to Bahauheni, the gateways of Java and Sumatra respectively when travelling by road. This is an important ferry crossing across the Java Sea to bridge Java and Sumatra road transport.

Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif is accessed by foot from Terminal Terpadu Merak on the upper floor.

A pedestrian overhead bridge connects Terminal Terpadu Merak and Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif.

Heading into Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif.

On first impression, Pelabuhan Merak Eksekutif is certainly much more modern than the rest of Merak.

A big Indomaret seems to be the anchor tenant here.

Heading to the ferry area.

Seems like this place is meant to be a mall in itself in future, named Sosoro Mall.

I headed to the kiosks to find out what they are.

Turns out that these are just check-in kiosks.

There is a counter beside, but they were not staffed behind. There is a roving staff in front of the counters.

The ferry fares from Merak to Bakauheni effective 1 October 2022.

For direct ticket sales, tickets are only available on the Ferizy app, which foreigners cannot download, and credit cards are not accepted on the website.

I asked the roving staff how I should get a ticket then, and he said that the Indomaret beside can sell it.

The Executive ferry can be seen through the big glass windows on the side of the terminal building, with passengers and vehicles boarding.

There is ample seating available at the boarding gate.

There is another vehicle ramp for the upper deck with loading from the side.

More ferries of various classes are outside the harbour.

Boarding of the Executive ferry is done with entry gates before the gangway.

The regular Merak Ferry Terminal can be seen from the Merak Executive Ferry Terminal, located within the same harbour.

The KMP Port Link slips off from Merak Executive Ferry Terminal on the way to Bakauheni on Sumatra.

Here, I headed back to Terminal Terpadu Merak to exit from Merak Executive Ferry Terminal to continue my exploration around the Port of Merak.
