The SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder Train is an SRT Eastern Line feeder train extending eastward from Lat Krabang Railway Station to Phra Chom Klao serving students and staff at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). This extends the reach of the AERA1 City Airport Rail Link line to the campus just 5 minutes away by feeder train. Twice a day, the SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder Train originates from Bangkok Hua Lamphong Railway Station as a revenue train to send the train set over from the railcar depot to Lat Krabang Railway Station to start the feeder operations.

My ticket for the SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161 from Bangkok Hua Lamphong to Phra Chom Klao which costs 10 Baht. A flat fare of 10 Baht applies to all SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder Train trips regardless of distance.

I was looking around the platforms up till 2.40pm but there was no sign of the SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161.

The train information was displayed at Platform 8, but the train stabled there was definitely not a THN or NFK railcar.

Nevertheless, I enquired at the information counter and the staff on hand escorted me down the platform to the end where the SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161 would be arriving shortly.

There were not many passengers on a weekday afternoon, and I had 4 seats to myself for the journey.

My SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161 departed from Bangkok Hua Lamphong Railway Station at 3.00pm – 20 minutes delayed.

The conductor comes around to check for tickets and to sell them to those who do not already have one. A flat fare of 10 Baht applies to all SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder Train trips regardless of distance.

My SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161 arrived at Phra Chom Klao Railway Halt at 3.59pm – 24 minutes delayed.

The destination sign changes to the 5-minute route between Phra Chom Klao and Lat Krabang.

As Phra Chom Klao Railway Halt is in the middle of the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) campus, passengers can walk directly to wherever they need to go. Phra Chom Klao Railway Halt is also connected to Hua Takhe Railway Station via a sheltered walkway.

The SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161 immediately changes direction to form the SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1162 to Lat Krabang.

Conclusion

The SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder 1161 is a useful additional train from Bangkok Hua Lamphong to the SRT Eastern Line up to Phra Chom Klao, stopping at major stations only. The purpose of this 5-minute feeder train is also useful for students and staff of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) who can now use the SRT Airport Rail Link Feeder Train in addition to existing trains to connect with the AERA1 City Airport Rail Link line during peak periods.
