KTM Segambut Utara Railway Station Enhances Connectivity & Improves Public Transport Access
Minister of Transport YB Loke Siew Fook officiated the launch of Segambut Utara Railway Station on 15 May 2026, a project valued at more than RM39 million, developed beside United Point to strengthen public transport connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the Klang Valley. Also present was YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Wilayah Persekutuan), who witnessed the opening of the new station as part of the Government’s continuous efforts to improve the efficiency and connectivity of the public transport system within the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

Development of Segambut Utara Railway Station
Located between Kepong and Segambut, Segambut Utara Railway Station was developed through a strategic collaboration between Railway Assets Corporation (RAC), as owner and manager of the national rail assets; IDP Industrial Development Sdn. Bhd., a wholly owned subsidiary of UOA Development Berhad and developer of the adjacent United Point Residence project; and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), as operator of the rail services.
The project reflects the effectiveness of a public-private partnership model in developing national rail infrastructure, with RAC playing a central role in ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards, while also guaranteeing full integration with the existing rail system to support smooth long-term operations.

Location
Segambut Utara Railway Station is situated approximately 10 kilometres from KL Sentral, and is expected to benefit hundreds of thousands of residents around Segambut by providing a more convenient, comfortable, and efficient daily commuting option. The opening of Segambut Utara Railway Station also adds strategic value to the KTM Komuter Tanjung Malim–Port Klang Line, while strengthening connectivity between residential areas, commercial centres and key transport hubs in the Klang Valley, including Putra Station and Bank Negara Station.
As part of efforts to encourage greater use of public transport, the Minister also announced 3 months of free parking at Segambut Utara Railway Station in conjunction with its opening. This initiative is expected to optimise the use of existing parking facilities and increase rail ridership in the surrounding area.

Segambut Utara Railway Station also provides direct access to the main road network and integration with bus and taxi services, thereby improving accessibility for residents in Segambut, Kepong, Mont Kiara and Jinjang. Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will extend the existing GoKL Bus Route 13 (MRT Jinjang–MATRADE) to Segambut Utara Railway Station from 1 June 2026. The 500-metre route extension along Jalan Udang Gantung will operate daily from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, providing seamless connectivity for passengers using the new station.

Capacity
With a capacity of up to 8,000 passengers per hour in each direction during peak periods, Segambut Utara Railway Station is projected to accommodate approximately 580,000 passengers annually. The opening of the station is also expected to benefit a catchment population of around 89,000 residents currently, with the figure projected to exceed 100,000 in the coming years.
Throughout 2025, the KTM Komuter Tanjung Malim–Port Klang route recorded approximately 4.3 million passengers. The opening of Segambut Utara Railway Station is expected to contribute to a 2% increase in ridership within the first 6 months of operation.
According to RAC and KTMB, the project represents the outcome of a strategic collaboration with IDP Industrial Development Sdn. Bhd., demonstrating the confidence in public-private sector cooperation in delivering rail infrastructure projects that provide direct benefits to the public, while ensuring the efficiency and long-term sustainability of the national rail network.
