KTMB Extends EMUPlus to Klang-Ipoh Route, Strengthening Intercity Travel Experience

KTM Berhad has expanded its EMUPlus service to Klang from 17 April 2026, giving passengers in the Klang Valley a more convenient way to travel directly to Ipoh. The move marks a significant step in improving intercity rail connectivity by making the service more accessible to communities outside the usual major hubs.

For the first time, travellers from Klang, Shah Alam, and Subang Jaya can begin their journey closer to home rather than depending entirely on KL Sentral. This added convenience makes trip planning simpler and offers a smoother, more flexible travel experience for passengers heading north.

The route now covers Klang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, KL Sentral and then continues on to Ipoh. By adding these boarding points, KTMB is giving passengers more choice over where they start their journey, which can save both time and effort.

The service is available from 17 to 19 April 2026, with fares starting from RM45 one way. That pricing makes EMUPlus an attractive option for travellers looking for a comfortable and affordable rail alternative.

KTMB also plans to operate EMUPlus on weekends and during long holiday periods, including festive seasons, depending on operational requirements. This suggests the service may become a regular travel option for people who often move between the Klang Valley and Ipoh.

According to KTMB Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri, the expansion is not simply about adding a new route. It is about bringing the EMUPlus experience closer to the community and making travel more relevant to modern lifestyles.

Passengers can check schedules and purchase tickets through the KITS Style app, KTMB’s website and its official social media channels. KTMB says it remains committed to delivering rail services that are safe, efficient and responsive to public mobility needs.
