KTMB Adds 186 ETS, EMUPlus & Charter Train Trips for Hari Raya Aidiladha 2026 & School Holidays
KTM Berhad has announced 186 additional train services for the Aidiladha and school holiday period, with tickets gone on sale on 9 May 2026 at 12pm. The extra train services will run from 22 May to 7 June 2026 and are intended to meet stronger demand during the festive period.
The additional services cover ETS and EMUPlus routes linking KL Sentral with Ipoh, Butterworth, Padang Besar and JB Sentral, as well as the new Klang–Ipoh corridor. KTMB said the extra trains will provide a combined 58,380 seats across the period.
Demand and response
KTMB Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri said the rail operator had received positive feedback from the public on previous festive extra services, particularly on the Johor Bahru sector. He added that the government’s Road to Rail campaign has helped encourage more people to choose public transport.
According to KTMB, the stronger demand reflects growing confidence in the national rail service.
Ekspres Lambaian Aidiladha (ELA)
KTMB also announced the special Ekspres Lambaian Aidiladha (ELA) service to the East Coast, launched to help passengers returning to their hometowns. The service comprises two special train journeys with 912 tickets in total, of which 447 had been sold at the time of the statement.
For East Coast travellers, KTMB is also offering a 30% discount for Malaysians on ELA 1029 from Tumpat to KL Sentral in the Superior Seater category, with 274 seats available from 11 May 2026 at 10am. The Superior Seater fare after discount is RM56, down from RM80.
