Goodbye, Old Kempas Baru Railway Station.

Goodbye, Old Kempas Baru Railway Station.

The old Kempas Baru Railway Station has closed from 6 February 2024, with the opening of the new Kempas Baru Railway Station. While the station building was still open for passers-by on 6 February 2024, there are no more train facilities in the old station, with contractors on standby to direct passengers to the new station. Here is my visit to the old Kempas Baru Railway Station on 6 February 2024.

Old Kempas Baru Railway Station

The façade of the old Kempas Baru Railway Station.

A big banner hangs in front of the old Kempas Baru Railway Station to direct passengers to the new Kempas Baru Railway Station.

I headed up to the platform of the old Kempas Baru Railway Station for potentially one last time.

The concourse gate is left open. The vending machine is also still active.

The ticket counter area has been emptied out, and the counter window boarded up.

The platform is now quiet and empty.

The station master’s office is now locked with no more staff on hand at the old station.

The new Kempas Baru Railway Station is on a higher level and adjacent to the old Kempas Baru Railway Station, now on a new straighter alignment to cater for higher train speeds on the new tracks.

All lines at the old Kempas Baru Railway Station are no longer active, with the line already removed north of the station to facilitate the new access road to the new Kempas Baru Railway Station, and a warning placed on the track leading to the old Kempas Baru Railway Station from the temporary junction south of the station.

A last look back at the old Kempas Baru Railway Station, and I made my way on foot to the new Kempas Baru Railway Station.

Goodbye, old Kempas Baru Railway Station.

Hello, New Kempas Baru Railway Station!
