Bus Review: KKKL Express Night Bus from JB Larkin Sentral to KL TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) by Bus

KKKL Express Night Bus from JB Larkin Sentral to KL TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) Bus Review

KKKL is a long-time player in the Malaysia express bus industry and well-known for their reliable bus services throughout Peninsular Malaysia, with tickets often to be the first to sold out among competitors among trunk routes. While most KKKL buses run during the day, KKKL has also started an overnight bus service from JB to KL recently, departing from Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral at 11.59pm. As such, I decided on KKKL for this trip to KL, using KKKL’s overnight bus from JB instead of Singapore to save 3.5 times the cost.

Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral

I made my KKKL bus booking in advance on BusOnlineTicket to secure my seat. Tickets are popular for midnight departures, more so for KKKL buses, and I didn’t want to be stranded at Larkin Sentral overnight if all tickets were sold out.

I arrived at Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral by SBS Transit Bus Service 170. Connectivity from Singapore to Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral is easy by public transport.

The dedicated row for boarding pass collection and payment is at counters A09 to A14, beside the departure gate. Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral charges RM2 for boarding pass and facilities since 1 January 2022. The boarding pass is an additional charge on the ticket already purchased.

The entrance of the express bus departure hall is is now at the side after the ticket machines.

The express bus departure hall has plenty of seats, now more evenly spread out with passengers since the entrance is now at the end and boarding is at Gate B on the front end.

As I had arrived just in time for the bus departure, I could head straight out to the platform as my bus departure time was being called already.

My KKKL Express bus was already at Platform B09, to the left of Gate B. JWR 7199 will be sending me to KL on this overnight journey.

The luggage compartment was opened to allow passengers to load up their own luggage first.

Boarding passes are checked by the driver before boarding.

As the KKKL bus has only 9 rows of seats, the first row has more legroom as compared with other 30-seater buses.

The KKKL bus was completely full for this midnight departure.

My 11.59pm KKKL Express bus departed from Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral at 12.01am – just 2 minutes delayed.

Conclusion

KKKL Express is a convenient and fuss-free point-to-point bus operator from JB Larkin Sentral to KL TBS with no intermediate stops. The space available on board KKKL with 1 less row of seats compared to other competitors also mean more legroom for everyone which allows me to stretch out for this overnight bus journey.
