KTMB Additional ETS Trains for 2025 Christmas and School Holidays, 22,680 Extra ETS Tickets Available
In anticipation of heightened travel demand during the upcoming Christmas season and school holidays, KTM Berhad will operate 4 additional Electric Train Service (ETS) train services on the KL Sentral – Padang Besar – KL Sentral route and KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral route.
Additional ETS Services for Christmas and School Holiday
From 19 December 2025 until 11 January 2026, KTMB will operate extra ETS services along two key routes:
These additional trains will provide a total of 22,680 seats, including business class options, to enhance the travel experience for passengers. The move is part of KTMB’s ongoing commitment to offer safe, reliable, and competitive public transport, and to help ease the usual traffic congestion seen during peak festive seasons.
Ticket Sales and Train Schedules
Tickets for these additional ETS trains will go on sale from Friday, 21 November 2025 at 10:00am. Passengers are encouraged to book early via the KTM Mobile (KITS) app, KTMB’s official website, or ticket kiosks to secure their seats and enjoy flexi-fares if and while lower.

The additional trains will operate on the following dates:
- 19 December 2025 until 11 January 2026: KL Sentral – Padang Besar – KL Sentral (2 services) – Daily
- 19 December 2025 until 21 December 2025: KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral (2 services) – Weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- 26 December 2025 until 28 December 2025: KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral (2 services) – Weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- 2 January 2026 until 4 January 2026: KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral (2 services) – Weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- 9 January 2026 until 11 January 2026: KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral (2 services) – Weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Services on the KL Sentral – Padang Besar – KL Sentral route will run daily from 19 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, while the KL Sentral – Butterworth – KL Sentral route will run every weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). In total, 22,680 tickets will be offered to meet the high passenger demand throughout the year-end holiday season.

Passengers are advised to purchase tickets via cashless transactions through the KTM Mobile (KITS) app, KTMB’s official website, or ticket kiosks to secure their seats and enjoy flexi-fares if and while lower. As of 1 January 2025, KTMB has fully transitioned to a cashless ticketing system.
Passengers are also encouraged to arrive at stations 30 minutes before departure for smoother documentation processes, as boarding gates will close 5 minutes prior to departure to ensure a seamless and comfortable journey.
