KTM Komuter Southern Sector (KTM Komuter Selatan) JB Sentral-Paloh-Gemas

KTM Komuter Southern Sector Train Tickets & Train Schedule Jadual & Tambang KTM Komuter Sektor Selatan

KTM Komuter Southern Sector, also known as the Komuter Selatan, is a new KTM Komuter network which will provide local all-stop train services in the state of Johor, with trains running on the Gemas-Paloh Line and JB Sentral-Paloh Line upon completion of the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) on 21 April 2025.

The KTM Komuter Southern Sector was first officially announced by Malaysia Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook on 14 March 2024.

The 2025 KTM Komuter Southern Sector is not to be confused with the former name of the Seremban-Gemas Shuttle Train, also known as the KTM Komuter Southern Sector.

KTM Komuter Melaka-Johor Missing Link

The KTM Komuter Melaka-Johor Missing Link is the sector south of the electrified double-track line between Padang Besar and Pulau Sebang (Tampin) which is currently not served by the KTM Komuter, which is between Pulau Sebang (Tampin) and JB Sentral in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor states.

The KTM Komuter Melaka-Johor Missing Link is a term coined by RailTravel Station and in no way suggested a potential KTM Komuter service on this sector. It describes fixing the missing links by bus, making it a cheaper option to travel short-haul or suggests a potential connection from the current terminals of the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector.

KTM’s website may be down. I have no control over this, neither do I know when the website will be back up again, though it usually takes around a few hours to 3 days to recover.

KTM Komuter Southern Sector Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When will the KTM Komuter Southern Sector start?

The Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) will be completed on 21 April 2025, and the KTM Komuter Southern Sector will start public service at the same time as other electric train services on the line.

Why does the KTM Komuter Southern Sector terminate its service at Gemas? Why not at Pulau Sebang (Tampin)?

Good question. So near yet so far.

Why does the KTM Komuter Southern Sector split lines at Paloh? Why not at Kluang, or have a through Gemas-JB Sentral Line?

The KTM Komuter Southern Sector split lines at Paloh because, in my opinion, it is the middle-ish station between Gemas and JB Sentral, with a set of crossovers and ample lines and sidings for trains to layover. Crossovers are available at Paloh leading to all lines. While Kluang may be the most populous station around the middle of the line, there are no crossovers at Kluang for trains to turn back.

The whole route length from Gemas to JB Sentral is 192km long, and a through stopping service may take about 3 hours or more to run, so I don’t think you want to stay in a KTM Komuter train standing without toilets for that long either.

Does the KTM Komuter Southern Sector go to Singapore?

No.

Why?

The line between JB Sentral and Woodlands CIQ is not electrified, so electric KTM Komuter trains cannot run on them. The line is also not within Malaysia, so it is not just up to KTM to implement a new service.

How do I travel from Gemas to Singapore?

Change to the JB Sentral-Paloh Line at Paloh and then the KTM Shuttle Tebrau at JB Sentral.
