KTMB Recovery Underway After Sungkai-Kalumpang Fallen Tree Incident Disrupts ETS and Komuter Services (22 December 2025)

KTM Berhad has implemented immediate recovery measures after a fallen tree disrupted train services earlier today, affecting Electric Train Service (ETS) and KTM Komuter operations on 22 December 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 4.20pm between Sungkai and Slim River, where a fallen tree damaged overhead line equipment. As a result, 12 cantilever tubes were broken, leading to a disruption in the power supply along the affected stretch of track.

The disruption impacted 12 ETS and KTM Komuter services operating on the Tanjung Malim–Port Klang–Tanjung Malim route.

Clearing works at the site were completed by 6.53pm. KTMB’s technical teams, working in collaboration with relevant agencies, are currently carrying out repair works on the electrification system to ensure train operations can be safely restored as soon as possible.

KTMB has announced the following temporary operating arrangements for ETS services:

  • ETS services from KL Sentral/Segamat will terminate at Slim River station. Passengers will be transferred by bus to Sungkai station to continue their journeys.
  • ETS services from Padang Besar/Butterworth will terminate at Sungkai station. Passengers will be transferred by bus to Slim River station to proceed with their travel.
  • KTM Komuter services on the Tanjung Malim–Port Klang–Tanjung Malim route are operating as scheduled but are experiencing delays.

ETS passengers who choose not to continue their journey due to delays exceeding two hours are eligible for a full fare refund at the nearest station ticket counter, subject to existing terms and conditions. Affected passengers have also been informed of the delays via SMS notifications as an early advisory measure.

Passengers requiring further assistance are advised to approach station staff on duty or contact the KTMB Call Centre at 03-9779 1200.

KTMB has apologised for the inconvenience caused and expressed its appreciation for passengers’ patience and cooperation during the service disruption.
