Malaysia Reinstates On-Arrival Temperature Checks For All Travellers, Additional COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (RTK-Ag) For Travellers From China
Malaysia has reinstated temperature checks for fever for all inbound travellers arriving in Malaysia. Travellers who are found with fever and are symptomatic or have self-declared their symptoms will be sent to a quarantine centre or health authorities for further checks. This was announced by Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Director-General of the Ministry of Health, on Facebook on 30 December 2022.
Travellers with a 14-day travel history from China will also have to undergo an additional Antigen Rapid Test (RTK-Ag) upon arrival in Malaysia. Close contacts who have interacted with travellers from China in the last 14 days, or exhibit influenza-like illnesses, or severe acute respiratory infection will also be tested for COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health will also run polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on sewage samples from aircrafts coming from China.
No further information on quarantine centres or health authorities for further checks are available at the moment.
