New KTM Intercity & ETS Train Timetable from 1 January 2026 (Jadual Baru KTM Intercity & ETS mulai 1 Januari 2026)
A new KTM Intercity and ETS train timetable will be in place from 1 January 2026. KTM Intercity and ETS services will be rescheduled throughout Peninsular Malaysia. There are multiple major train timetable updates on 1 January 2026, please check the new timetables for new train connections across Peninsular Malaysia.
🚆 ETS Platinum Southern Sector: The Electric Train Service (ETS) on the JB Sentral–KL Sentral route has launched on 12 December 2025, marking a major milestone in the completion of the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP). The existing KL Sentral–Kluang–KL Sentral ETS services are extended through to JB Sentral, with 4 daily services forming the initial phase of operations. From 1 January 2026, another 4 daily services will be introduced, bringing the total to 8 daily ETS Platinum services on this sector.
🚆 ETS Gold Peninsular Sector: In addition, for the direct JB Sentral – Padang Besar route, the existing Padang Besar – Segamat – Padang Besar service will be extended to JB Sentral. This extension will provide seamless direct access from Northern Malaysia to Johor Bahru, thereby fulfilling the objective of the Gemas – Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project to establish a continuous rail network linking the Southern and Northern economies.
🚆Shuttle Timuran: 1 additional pair of Shuttle Timuran DMUs will operate between Gemas and Kuala Lipis in the morning, increasing the total to 6 daily services from 1 January 2026. This initiative aims to provide greater opportunities for East Coast passengers, particularly those travelling to Johor Bahru, to experience the ETS3 service via a transfer at Gemas station.
🎫 Ticket sales for the new train services will open from Wednesday, 17 December 2025 at 12.00pm. Tickets will be available for a 6-month period until May 2026 to cater for travel demand, especially during public holidays and festive seasons such as Thaipusam, Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Tickets can be purchased via the KITS Style application, KTMB’s official website, or at KTMB ticket kiosks at stations.
🚆 Ekspres Selatan: There are no updates yet for all Ekspres Selatan train services between JB Sentral and Gemas. On 11 November 2025, Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke announced that the Transport Ministry plans to introduce a dedicated commuter train service on the Kulai–Johor Bahru route from the first quarter of 2026, using existing rolling stock that previously operated on the Ekspres Selatan while waiting for new train sets. The Ekspres Selatan is expected to terminate before or when the KTM Komuter Southern Sector (KTM Komuter Selatan) is launched.
