Rapid Penang CAT Bus Service from Terminal Jetty (Pengkalan Raja Tun Uda) to KOMTAR by Free Central Area Transit Bus

Rapid Penang CAT (Central Area Transit) is a free loop bus service plying around the city area of Penang Island between Terminal Jetty and KOMTAR. After arriving from the Rapid Penang FERI Bus Service, I transferred on to the next bus departing from Terminal Jetty on to KOMTAR where my hotel was.

As luck would have it, the next bus departing was the free Rapid Penang CAT, which saved me RM1.40 in bus fares.

My bus was resting at Terminal Jetty while waiting for the next trip at 7.30pm. Once ready, the bus moved up to the CAT berth to pick up queuing passengers.

The Rapid Penang CAT bus journey from Terminal Jetty to KOMTAR took 12 minutes with no traffic jams.

From the KOMTAR CAT bus stop, it was a short walk onwards to my hotel for the night – Kimberley Hotel Georgetown.

From Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) after alighting from the Penang Fast Ferry, it is also possible to catch the Rapid Penang CAT Bus Service to KOMTAR without going to Jetty first.

Turn right after exiting Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) towards the Jubilee Clock Tower.

Cross the road at the roundabout on to Lebuh Pantai (Beach Street).

Continue on to the junction of Lebuh Pantai (Beach Street) and Lebuh Downing (Downing Street).

Wait under Standard Chartered Building before Balai Polis Lebuh Pantai.
