Day 4: KA Komuter SuPor from Surabaya Gubeng to Surabaya Kota

The Komuter SuPor (Surabaya-Porong) plies between Surabaya Kota and Porong via Sidoarjo. A flat fare of Rp5,000 applies for a ticket on the Komuter SuPor.

This train is still affectionally known to locals as the Komuter SuSi, with the old name attributed to the original Surabaya – Sidoarjo route before the extension to Porong.

No check-in is required for Lokal or Komuter tickets.

Just head straight to get your ticket checked before the entrance to the platform.

The empty platform and waiting area, probably because no one really takes the train from Surabaya Gubeng to Surabaya Kota.

The Komuter SuPor arriving at Surabaya Gubeng.

This Komuter SuPor is made up of a 3-car KRD MCW 302 diesel multiple unit manufactured by Nippon Sharyo Co., Ltd., and is also one of the last remaining non-air-conditioned DMUs in Indonesia.

The route map found inside the train, calling it the Komuter Porong.

Inside the K3 coach of the Komuter SuPor, with just simple longitudinal benches.

K3-38701 is an un-spaced text of K3 3 87 01, which means this train car was manufactured in 1987.

The shortcut line towards Surabaya Pasar Turi.

The final railway crossing on approach to Surabaya Kota.

The depot at Surabaya Kota.

The Komuter SuPor at Surabaya Kota.

The station gives me a feeling like it’s in an abandoned building with end-on platforms leading to a single exit.

The exit out of the platform area.

The exterior of Surabaya Kota station.

Surabaya Kota Railway Station offers easy access to various places of interests such as the Kebonrojo Post Office, Kepanjen Church, Heroes Monument, De Javasche Bank and House of Sampoerna, of which I barely visited any.
