EMR Connect 1Y20 Train from Luton to London St Pancras International

After an overnight stay at, it’s time to head back to London to catch my train back to Edinburgh. I used East Midlands Railway’s EMR Connect once again as it was the cheapest and fastest way to London from Luton, and it gets me another ride on the Siemens Desiro Class 360 EMU.

My EMR Connect 1Y20 train was expected to be 5 minutes delayed due to a a late running train in front of this one.

Thameslink trains are also available from Luton to London, but my Advance Single ticket is only valid for my chosen train.

My EMR Connect 1Y20 train was arriving at Luton 5 minutes delayed as announced.

East Midlands Railway EMR Connect Siemens Desiro Class 360/1 360101 was operating on my EMR Connect 1Y20 train as a single 4-car set.

The Luton DART is a paid shuttle train line connecting Luton Airport Parkway Railway Station and London Luton Airport using a Doppelmayr Cable Liner automated people mover system. Tickets can be purchased separately or as part of the National Rail system to Luton Airport (NOT Luton Airport Parkway).

As it was starting to get fully seated, I sat at the longitudinal seats outside the toilet at the corner, my favourite seat when on board the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link Reconfigured Express Line Train.

My EMR Connect 1Y20 train arrived at London St Pancras International Railway Station at 11.31am – 8 minutes delayed.

I was transferring to London Kings Cross Railway Station for my train to Edinburgh, so I took the back path for a quick hop over.

London Kings Cross Railway Station is located just beside London St Pancras International Railway Station across a small road.

Conclusion

EMR Connect was a cheap and fast way to travel from Luton to London with my Advance Single ticket. It was also nice to ride on the EMR Connect Siemens Desiro Class 360/1, the currently-last operator of Class 360 trains in the UK.
