KLIA Transit Increased Train Frequency for President Xi Jinping Official Visit

KLIA Transit train services between KL Sentral and KLIA will be increased up to every 15 minutes to accommodate passengers on 15 and 17 April 2025 due to major road closures between and in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Putrajaya during the official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping. There will be limited to no access to KLIA Terminal 2 by road during the road closures. Passengers should take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit train to KLIA Terminal 2.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)’s inter-terminal transfer train service is provided by the usual Express Rail Link (ERL)’s two types of train services: KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit. Both trains provide a quick transfer between KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 with a journey time of only 3 minutes. The fare for this transfer is RM2.00 for adults and RM1.00 for children.

KLIA Transit Additional Train Services

  • Tuesday, 15 April 2025 ~ Evening peak hour from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM (train frequency is every 15 minutes)
  • Thursday, 17 April 2025 ~ Morning peak hour from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM (train frequency is every 15 minutes)

Full Road Closures to/from KLIA

Lebuhraya KLIA, Lebuhraya ELITE, Lingkaran Putrajaya, Lebuh Putrajaya-Dengkil, Persiaran Selatan, Lebuh Gemilang, and Jalan P5 will be fully closed during the official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping on:

  • Tuesday, 15 April 2025 ~ 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Thursday, 17 April 2025 ~ 8:50 AM to 9:50 AM

Recommended Transportation

Passengers are strongly advised to use:

  • KLIA Express train from KL Sentral to/from KLIA Terminals 1 & 2.
  • KLIA Transit train from KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya, or Salak Tinggi to/from KLIA Terminals 1 & 2.

If Driving Is Unavoidable

Alternative Route: From Elite Highway (E6) > Exit at Serenia Toll > Kota Warisan > Bulatan Masjid > Jalan KLIA 1 > Bulatan Charterfield > KLIA Terminal 1 Departures/Arrivals/Parking

KLIA Terminal 2 Limited Access during Road Closure

There will be limited to no access to KLIA Terminal 2 Departures / Arrivals / Parking during the road closures. Passengers should drop off at KLIA Terminal 1 and take the KLIA Express or KLIA Transit train to KLIA Terminal 2.

If you are arriving at KLIA Terminal 2, take KLIA Transit train from KLIA Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 for alternative onward travel arrangements.

Travellers should plan their airport commute outside the road closure times if possible to avoid delays.
